Enhanced TB case finding in 12 selected districts of Punjab and KP. (Oct 01, 2011 to Dec 31, 2013) Less than desired level of TB registrations through passive case finding at public facilities; additional active case finding activities for enhancing the case finding at existing network of TB care facilities. Districts: 10 district in Punjab; and 2 districts in KP province Activities: Strengthen the public facilities by: training the medical and allied staff; supplement laboratory equipment and supplies, improve the intra-hospital referral etc. Mobilize communities by: selecting and enabling community advocates; arranging and implementing infotainment events etc. Plan, arrange and conduct chest camps for early community-based detection of TB cases. The activity was supported with a mobile microscopy unit for onsite examination of sputum. Facility and community level monitoring for enhanced performance Outputs: Doctors, allied staff and lab. staff at 166 public facilities oriented and engaged in active TB case finding 2,850 chest camps conducted in more than 1,800 urban and rural neighborhoods Overall TB case detection: 24,623 all type TB cases; and 8,817 SS+ TB cases 94% success rate among smear-positive TB cases
