FIDELIS-II Developing urban DOTS through tertiary and secondary-level hospitals in twelve districts of Pakistan (Jan. 15,2004 to Jan 15- 30, 2006)

  • Location : Twelve districts in the province of Punjab i.e.Northern Punjab: Attock, Chakwal , Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin Southern Punjab:  Multan, Vehari, Muzaffar Garh, Bahawalnagar, Central Punjab: Gujranwala, Sailkot, Hafizabad, Narowal
  • Activities:
    • Information collected by conducting interviews, discussion and record review.
    • Operations and mechanisms discussed and documented
    • NTP supervisory checklists adapted
    • Project reporting format developed
    • Design the questionnaire, conduct the record review, interviews and discussion ,compile the data
    • Venue identified, participants informed, facilitators arranged and training conducted for managers on orientation and planning DOTS activities in hospitals, doctors on case management, paramedics training as DOTS facilitator, laboratory technicians training on AFB microscopy.
    • Arrangements for case detection in placed.
    • TB case registration initiated.
    • Facilitation to prepare and dispatch timely reports
    • Regular visits to the hospitals i.e. at least 10 days in the field
    • Regular visits to update the record from the 25 hospitals.
    • Update and accurate record of the payment receipts of the project expenditures.
    • Preparation for conducting the project audit from an external firm.
  • Outputs:
    • Contract signed, two coordinators and one financial manager
    • Two project vehicles, two computers/accessories, lab supplies, 1000 patients drugs and print materials
    • 52 managers training on orientation and planning DOTS activities in hospitals
    • 60 doctors training on case management
    • 60 paramedics training as DOTS facilitator
    • 26 laboratory technicians training on AFB microscopy
    • TB Suspect screening and case detection of patients attending the 25 hospital outdoor

Report on project resources including hard ware and materials provided to 25 hospitals.
